Preparing for a Forest School Plus Visit or Experience

First contact Tina to discuss what is required and to set a date unless you wish to book an Artforms creative project session as this needs to be booked through Artforms, Leeds http://www.leedsforlearning.co.uk/ .

For workshops or experiences that will be outside please ensure that your pupils, parents, staff and volunteers are prepared for the weather. At Forest School Plus we follow the Forest School ethos of "outside whatever the weather" and plan to eat a picnic lunch outside year round. A Forest School saying originating in Scandinavia is, "There is no such thing as bad weather just bad equipment." Tina will not be expecting children to be wearing expensive high tech walking gear but participants will need to be prepared to get wet and muddy. For outside sessions the children will need boots or trainers. Wellies are recommended for experiences at Herd Farm. In cold weather hats and gloves are recommended.  A look at the weather forecast is essential as either waterproof coats or jackets and waterproof trousers could be necessary. Sun hats and sun block will be needed in hot weather. Long sleeves and long trousers are recommended even on warm summer days as these protect from nettle stings, prickles and sunburn.
