Welcome to Forest School Plus

Tina Roberts is a freelance artist and educator with more than 20 years teaching experience from FS to KS2. She is also trained as a level 3 Forest School Leader.


Forest School Plus...

was established in 2014 with the intention of offering Forest School plus other workshops and experiences. Tina began by delivering prehistory workshops with a Forest School flavour using handcrafted and painted props and resources. As opportunites arose by 2015 Tina was delivering prehistoric experiences in collaboration with Herd Farm and a variety of educational and art workshops. In 2016 she had opened her Folksy shop to further develop the art side of the business.


Forest School Plus is able to offer a variety of educational experiences as well as artworks. These include:


  • Forest School and Nature Play on your own sites in Yorkshire
  • Knowledge rich National Curriculum linked workshops and outdoor learning experiences
  • Forest School or Prehistory themed outdoor CPD and team building
  • Nature inspired art and craft
  • Gelli printing artworkshops for adults


With the support of Ian Roberts, consultant archaeologist Forest School Plus has developed a specialism in prehistory workshops and experiences to enhance the KS2 history topics Changes - Stone Age to Iron  Age and Romans in Britain. Ian ( plans the prehistory experiences with Tina ensuring that they reflect current archaeological research. Tina's primary teaching experience ensures they are accessible for pupils and relevant to the curriculum.


Prehistoric and History Experiences @HerdFarm are day visits to Herd Farm Residential and Activity Centre. Utilising the roundhouse village on site Forest School Plus are able to offer a range of experiences including The Prehistoric Walkthrough Time from Stone Age to Iron Age, The Stone Age Experience, The Iron Age Experience, The Stone Age to Iron Age Craft Experience and The Romans are Coming!  Experience, 


The Bronze Age Burial is the most popular workshop we take into schools. It is based on archaeology and through role play and re-enactment pupils develop an understanding of how archaeologists find out about the prehistoric past. We have also developed a Romans are Coming! workshop we can bring to your school which is aso proving popular.


Forest School Plus prehistory and history workshops and sessions are available on Mondays and Fridays in school terms. Forest School, Nature Play and Creative workshops are available on other days in term time. Tina also works with a range of organisations in the school holidays including out of school care, foster carers, parks, charities and art workshop venues.


Tina carries out all necessary risk- benefit assessments to ensure safe happy learning experiences.
